P2-Y2-L3-Gitamritam – Introduction2

Gita does not mean, simply song, but rather a divine essence in the form of upadesa. Upadesa means instruction that shows the guidance to walk the path of the truth to realize the truth. Gita also means that it is the guide of Brahma Vidya. Brahma Vidya is the education of knowing or realizing the truth or god or the true-self. The teaching happens soul to soul in more internal way but not the physical way. Just like you see sugar but you realize the essence of sugar, by eating it in the same way, though it has more physical aspect of it, the guidance of it or the light or it or the path of it can only be realized from within and from the guidance within, you act and shine yourself and share the rays of your true-self which will transform others too!

The feeling of the “divine essence” is communicated well in the language with the word Gita and hence it’s got its own form of expression naturally that way.

Here Shree Krishna milks the essence of Sanatan Dharma and its essence from upanishads. Sanatan Dharma has been there, since beginning of the creation and it’s the beingness of the source of the creation. The essence of it is reminded or told in another form by Lord Shree Krishna. So lord Krishna did not create it, but he milked the essence of the Upanishads and presented a new dimension of knowing and being THE TRUE SELF.

There are several Gitas such as Shiva Gita, Uddhava Gita, Kapila Gita, Shruti Gitas from vedas and so on.    All these Gitas give different dimensions to know the true-self or god.

Several spiritual gurus have given their dimensions of understanding and analysis.

With the divine guidance from within, I (not my individual “I”) here present a dimension that will let the modern people easily understand the essence of slokas with real life examples while practical situations manifest in their lives as they read this book.  In addition, as you read Gitamritam, you will experience the art of yoga presented in Bhagawadgita will start loading into you automatically and you will also experience yourself functioning few times with such loaded art of yoga. More than the physical way of explanation, each word carries certain seed syllables that will energize you spiritually. Automatically and naturally awakening the devotion, love and then connecting to the divine with the required frequency will enable the readers experience the BHAGAWD GITA within and also practically real lives.

Due to lack of soul energies, in Kaliyuga, making people understand by merely writing and reading does not actually help them but with the background of the divine energy, the text can carry the vibrations that naturally bring transformation in the readers which is the divine effort behind this book.

You are required to know certain background of Gita, before actually getting into it. You will be presented some background and then you will be taken into the Amritam of it!

— Hariom, Shree Guru

What is Mahabharat : Mahabharat was mainly a real life story of a royal family, in which cousins (Kauravas and Pandavas) finally fight to get the throne. Its mainly the story of churning in every character to transform. The successfully transformed ones take the positive side and the failed ones take negative side.  Ascending both sides and reaching the peak of yoga makes you Self Realized (The ultimate goal of Bhagawadgita)

Main Characters to know in the story of Mahabharat

Dhritarashtra : He is the blind king and the father of hundred kaurava children. His blindness is the indication that he is blind spiritually. Spiritually blind means, he gives importance only to the physical world, material world and his body. He thinks, his body is him, he is attached to his throne and to his sons. He

Kauravas: Kauravas are hundred and they are the negative side of the whole story of Mahabharat. Dhuryodhana is the eldest of all the Kauravas.

Pandavas : Pandavas are five brothers. They are the positive side of the story of Mahabharat. Dharmaraj or Yudhistar is the eldest one, Bheem is the second one, Arjun is the third one and Nakul and Sahadev are the fourth and fifth ones.

Lord Krishna : Lord Krishna is the human incarnation of the God, who came down to bring balance in the Nature in terms of Dharma.

Background Story: It is mainly the story of fighting the negativity of greed and grabbing authority and land from others. Kauravas and Pandavas are cousins and they both get educated and get trained at the same Guru, Dronacharya. Pandavas are the sons of five elements and lord Indra (they are positive energies born on the earth for the purpose of eliminating certain negativity on the earth, which balances the Nature). Traditionally, the eldest son in the family gets the opportunity to become the king. Paandu and Dhritarshtra are the two brothers in the family. Paandu is the elder brother and Dhritarastra is the younger brother.  Paandu is weak by body but great by virtue. Dhritrastra is blind but yet strong by body. Dhritarashtra does not good virtue. As the elder brother, Paandu is weak, the younger one, Dhritrashtra was made king those days.  Paandu’s sons are Pandavas. Because of the father’s virtue, they have all great virtues as per the dharma. So, after Dhritarashtra, as per the dharma, Pandavas are supposed to get the kingship. Dhritrashtra’s sons are Kauravas and they always carried negative traits to protect their heirship of being kings from Paandavas. Kauravas create several problems for Paandavas throughout their lives. Finally the eldest son of Dhritarashtra, Dhuryodhan, takes over the entire kingdom. Though the Paandavas rightfully deserve to get the whole kingdom, to avoid the ruckus and fight, they would ask for a small piece of land which would also be denied by the Kauravas.

Lord Krishna was the incarnation of God those days, who also came down with the duty of balancing the Nature (human traits). As part of his duty, he would intervene in the sad story of the Pandavas. Lord Krishna would try to settle the matter peacefully between the cousins but all his efforts would go in vain, but leaving the option of only war. That war was one of the major wars in the history of humans.

Finally Kauravas and Pandavas are supported by their own kith and kin and several other kings around that kingdom.

Bhagawadgita was told by lord Krishna in the middle of the battle, when Arjuna tries to quit the war, after seeing his own relations. Bhagwadgita opens door to THE TRUTH, in a man and only Arjunas deserves to hear it from Lord Krishna.

Spiritual reason behind Mahabharat : Five pandavas are the physical appearance of five elements and their wife, Droupadi is the significance of Nature. They following dharma presented various virtues of human life while the negative side of Kauravas presents the hundred types of negative traits in Nature. So weather good are bad are the traits in Nature which are like tastes in a dish. Tastes such as sourness, sweetness, spiciness, bitterness, saltiness and so on are like traits in human Nature. All these tastes if they go out of balance, the dish tastes so bad. It cannot be eaten and those who such food, they suffer. It has to be balanced. Nature, tries on its own to balance itself to certain extent, like if we have gasses in our body, it is sent out. In the same way, Nature its own ways to balance itself. But when it goes out of its limitations, then it needs the interference of the super natural power, whom we call God. The super natural power is purusha side. It means, it is so pure without any traits and it is so plain and it is pure energy as well. It also works, speaks, and thinks in harmony with the laws of Nature (Dharma). Because of its purity, purusha will forcibly inject and bring required changes in the human nature through certain talks and actions. When, dharma went out of balance, with the suffering of when five elements (Pandavas) and Nature (Draupadi), Lord Krishna interferes with the bad state of the Nature. Lord Krishna tries in all aspects to avoid war between two cousins (Pandavas and Kauravas). But the negative traits in the Nature (of Karuvas), always preferred war as the way forward, which was then unavoidable. With the death of several people in the war, certain bad traits in the Nature, died due to which the Nature came to balance.

In Short, about the Bhagawad Gita : Life is a field of war into which you come down to perform your skills of balance which is yoga, by understanding the nature of the field, your own self while getting rid of your attachments. Bhagawadgita paves the way for you to know your own true self and in that process, you would perform in the field of war (which is this life) in harmony with the other contents of the field.

A situation before the war : Dhuryodhan from Kauravas side and Arjun from Pandvas side visit lord Krishna before the war. They both visit him to ask for two sides of armies to support them. On one side, some army men from other supporting kingdoms and on the other side, Lord Krishna alone. That way, the elders actually leverage the both sides.  Dhuryodhan naturally being materialistic and spiritually blind, he would prefer the army to Krishna.

So, they happen to find him sleeping. Dhuryodhan comes first and sits on the head side of Krishna and later Arjun comes and he happens to sit on the feet side of the lord. Lord Krishna sees first Arjuna as usually everyone sees towards the front side. So Krishna sees Arjuna first and asks him about the reason behind his visit. He says, the reason while Dhuryodhan says he came first, with the fear that “Arjuna might choose the Army men”.

Krishna says that he has seen Arjuna first, so he should give opportunity to let Arjuna speak first.  But before that, Krishna says that “he does not fight war nor he uses any weapon in the war and he will only drive the chariot of the chosen warrior, so he would be much of use for those who choose him”.

So, Arjuna speaks first and says, that he visited Krishna to ask him to represent the side of Pandavas.  Dhuryodhan feels happy inside thinking that “foolish Arjuna chose weaponless Krishna”. Then Arjuna says to Krishna that that, “he does not have to fight nor use any weapon in the war, but his presence itself would be a great blessing for them”. Krishna accepts Arjuna’s request while Dhuryodhan is left with the option of having the army men on his side, for which he is happy.

This is the reason why, Krishna becomes the charioteer for Arjuna.
